Permission Level: Everyone
This article will cover the first five things you should know when getting started with Minga!
1. Share a post
Minga is the perfect place to interact with your digital community. Like any community though, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Being active and engaged with your Minga will make it a better place for everyone, and its easy to do!
The Home Feed is the heart of your Minga. Depending on the permission settings of your Minga, anything you add to the Home Feed will be seen by everyone else in your Minga. This makes it the perfect place to share stories, photos, and videos that you think you community might appreciate.
See the Adding a Post article for more information.
2. Like and Comment
Like and comment on other posts. The like and comment features are a great way to interact with other people in your Minga. If you enjoy a post, letting the person know will encourage them to post more!
3. Browse through Events
One of the best parts of Minga is how easy it makes it to quickly see what is going on in your community. One way to do this is to look at your Calendar page.
The calendar displays all of the upcoming events that have been shared with your Minga. Click on an event to see the full details, and select the Going button if you intend to attend the event.
Events you intend on going to will appear in blue on your calendar, and you can see a list of the events you are going to by navigating to the Going tab.
The Past tab shows you the events in your Minga that have already happened.
Depending on the permission settings of your Minga, you might be able to post your own event as well!
See the Adding An Event article for more information.
4. Open the Photo Gallery
The Photo Gallery is an entire space in your Minga dedicated to sharing photos with your community.
The Photo Gallery is a great place to view photos of people and events in your community. Maybe you recently attended an event and want to check out photos of it. To do this, you would click on a photo from the event and check to see whether it has an event tag at the bottom. If it does, you can click that tag and see all the photos from that event!
If you took some photos at an event and would like to share them, add them to the Photo Gallery! Make sure you tag the event. You can also tag people in the photos, which will send them a notification so they'll know to take a look.
Note: your ability to add photos to the photo gallery is dependent on the permission settings of your Minga.
See the Using the Photo Gallery article for more information.
5. Check your Notifications
One way to make sure you don't miss anything important going on in your Minga is to check your notifications.
The notifications page lists all the notifications you've received. Notifications can be triggered from a variety of things, like being tagged in a photo, being @ mentioned in a post or comment, or when an announcement is posted in your Minga.
Selecting a notification will take you directly to the content you were tagged in.
I know we said there would only be five steps, but if you're part of a Minga School, there's one last thing you should check out: Groups!
Groups allow you to share things with your club, class, or team without it appearing on the Home Feed of everyone in your Minga. The My Groups tab shows you all the groups you are a part of. To see Groups you might want to join, go to the All Groups tab!
See the Creating and Posting to Groups article for more information.
With those five (or six) tips, you should be ready to go with Minga!
